2015 tribal snow academy ski coach and Canadian national halfpipe ski team competitor Simon D`Artois has just brought home the GOLD MEDAL in X-Games Superpipe held at ASPEN Colorado! Simon is a Whistler local athlete who has literally trained with Blood, sweat and tears to make it to X-games. All his hard work has paid off and he will be spending some days up on the hill with the team to share his knowledge and passion to the Tribal Ski Academy Crew.
January 6th 2015 is our First day of training for Tribal Freeski Academy!
Today was a great day to start fresh with basics on Whistler-Blackcomb Terrain Park
The conditions were a bit icey but around noon, the snow woftend up and we were getting into our groove.

and we went into detail about switch, loading and popping.
Every one killed it!
Great way to start 2015 strong… our goal is to all compete at the WSSF.(World Ski Snowboard Festival)
2015 Winter Season is just around the corner and Whistler’s premier Freeride program registeration is well under way! This year’s coaching roster is off the hook. 2014 Sochi Olympic athletes and Coaches will be joining our coaching line-up both as regular and as guest coaches all through out the season.
Mauro Nunez is a 2014 Sochi Russian national freestyle ski team coach and now he is back with Tribal to give us tips for halfpipe and slopestyle. He is world reknown for his expertise in teaching using very easy to “visualize” techniques . Mauro is also one of the nicest guys you’ll meet!
Yuki Tsubota is also a local Olympian whos performance was outstanding at the Sochi Games. Due to an unexpected fall she was inches away from possibly medalling in Womens Slopestyle at the Olympics.
Simon Dartois is a local Halfpipe athlete on the Canadian National Halfpipe ski team. He is well on his way to compete in the next Olympic games . He is on the A-team which is the team who are scheduled to compete at the Games.

So Far the Tribal Program is doing great, and even the though the lack of snow this season has set our plans for Halfpipe training to a later date, our slopestyle sessions have been epic. Crew members this year are: Yuichi Isono(Japan) , Sarah Wilson (Canada), Janine Quass ( Germany ), Erika Hirata (Japan).
This season we are Filming our daily sessions using “Coach’s Eye” technology which helps us point our certain riders improvement needs and helps give our rider’s a real visual on how they are doing.
Whistler-Blackcomb has been working hard to maintain and create a park that is fit for every level of park skier. It sure has been a “Park Season” this year so far, but with more snow on the way, we’re sure it is just a late start for an epic winter!
Our Current Tribal Members have now started water ramp training up on the Olympic Water Ramp site on the bottom of Blackcomb Mountain. The season program is run by Whistler blackcomb freestyle club and is coached by Sarah Hogg.
People that are training for winter are practicing their flips, spins and aerial maneuvers up at the water ramps.
Registration for Tribal Snow Academy is in full swing. TSA is the premier full season training program for athletes and freeski enthusiasts to take their skiing into a whole different level. As Tribal participants have Whistler-Blackcomb, and many of the local Pacific North west coast mountains to train at as a Venue we are lucky to have some of the best terrain, terrain parks and features on the planet! At Tribal, our goal is to have an international Crew of skiers helping each other to improve utilizing 5 months, or a 2.5 month session to culminate with one of the best ski seasons in their lifetime.
We pride our selves with our many Pros, Olympians, and members who have took part in our program and our Alumni have definitely proven that hard work, a great set of coaches, and joining Tribal Snow Academy will enable you to gain knowledge on skiings various tips and techniques , and the development process of training in Freeride skiing.
